Abyssinian Oil (INCI Brassica Abyssinica) - This is by far our favorite oil for hair care as it forms a light, continuous lipid layer on the hair shaft, locking in essential moisture, adding lubricity to the hair to help detangle while adding a natural radiant luster to the hair. It is also wonderful for the skin as it is very easily absorbed into the epidermal tissue to help generate a noticeably smoother texture to the skin. With a high percentage of C-22 unsaturated fatty acids, it is highly resistant to oxidation and extremely stable against heat breakdown. Abyssinian oil comes from the seeds of European Mustard Plants. Non-GMO
Aloe Butter (INCI Cocos Nucifera & Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract) - Aloe Butter is organic aloe vera juice that has been infused into organic virgin coconut oil to combine the benefits of both. It acts as a skin remoisturizer, soothing inflammation and irritation. It is very mild and is suitable for sensitive skin or inflamed and irritated skin or especially after sun exposure and absorbs rapidly into dry skin.
Apricot Kernel Oil (INCI Prunus armeniaca) - is cold pressed from wild hand gathered apricot kernels. This oil is very similar to sweet almond oil being that it is light in texture and readily absorbed BUT is suitable for those with nut allergies. This oil is exceptional for dry inflamed skin and is often used in baby products such as massage oils.
Arrowroot Powder (INCI Maranta arundinacea) - By adding a touch of starch to our lotion bars, our bar becomes softer and easier to apply since candelilla wax can be extremely brittle. It imparts a cooling silkiness and allows for a creamier bar which leaves a better emollient barrier on the skin that lasts longer on the skin than without. We have chosen arrowroot as a healthier alternative to cornstarch as it is less allergenic and helps the moisturizers penetrate the skin better.
Avocado Oil and Avocado Butter (INCI Persea gratissima) - We use both the butter and oil in our products because it is such an amazingly norishing oil. Rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, B5, E as well as protein, lecithin and essential fatty acids, hence, a very rich and nourishing. Avocado butter and oil has some natural healing and regenerative properties - very beneficial to eczema and psoriasis sufferers. In the hair, the avocado oil helps nourish and add luster and a silky texture while the amino acids in the oil are said to promote the growth of new hair cells as well and helping to alleviate hair fall, thinning and dandruff.
Behentrimonium Methosulfate - a very gentle cationic conditioner for hair and skin. Derived from vegetable oils, it is the gentles conditioner and detangler available.
Calendula infused olive oil (INCI Calendula officinalus flowers and Olea europaea) - This oil is made by infusing organic calendula flowers into organic extra virgin olive oil to create a soothing oil designed to relieve various skin irritations, heal burns and help regenerate damaged skin. Calendula contains anti-inflammatory properties and promotes rapid healing of the skin while olive oil is rapidly absorbed into the skin and suitable for most all skin types.
Camellia seed oil (INCI Camellia oleifera) - Camellia Seed Oil is cold pressed from camellia seeds (tea seeds) and is unrefined. Yet another oil which is useful in treating eczema, psoriasis, dry cracked skin, scar reduction and sun damage, is a very light oil which penetrates quickly and has a cooling effect on the skin. It is often used in baby products or for sensitive allergy prone skin and has been said to be the beauty secret of the Geishas. We find this exotic oil to be one of our most prized ingredients with its soothing properties in light almost floral scent.
Candelilla Wax (INCI Euphorbia antisyphillitica) - Candelilla wax is a sustainably wildharvested wax from the candelilla plant native to parts of Mexico and Texas. Our candelilla wax is hot water separated - we do not use solvent extracted waxes EVER. It is a wonderful alternative to beeswax, providing the same moisture barrier protection and is preferable for those with bee related allergies or those who prefer a vegan wax. It is a much harder wax as well and does not have the tack that beeswax can. Therefor, we can use less wax and more oils and butters and get a silkier, smoother and more emollient lotion bar or lip balm. Candelilla wax is golden yellow in color with a rich sweet scent of its own.
Castor Oil (INCI Ricinus Communis) - Castor oil is one of those amazingly versatile beauty oils which is rich in fatty acids. We put this oil in our shampoos to help create a rich lather and moisturizes hair exceptionally well, helping to thicken and strengthen the hair shaft. We also love this in our oil cleansers as it has a drawing power, helping to pull dirt and impurities from the skin.
Cetyl alcohol - a fatty alcohol naturally derived from vegetable oils. These alcohols are NOT the drying kind but are very moisturizing and biodegradable. Cetearyl alcohol is a blend of cetyl and stearyl alcohols - again, an emollienmts which provides emulsification in blends and adds body and firmness.
Coconut Oil (INCI Cocos Nucifera) - We use Organic Virgin Coconut Oil ! This versatile oil is light, quickly penetrating and is not prone to clog pores. It is soothing and moisturizing and great for most all skin types. In soaps, it helps produce nice fluffy lather.
Grape Seed Oil (INCI Vitis vinifera) - Grape Seed oil is rich in vitamins, minerals, linoleic acid and other essential fatty acids. The fatty acids found in grapeseed oil are similar to those that combine to create the skin's own sebum so it helps replace sebum removed during cleansing, leaving skin protected, locking in moisture.
Mango Butter (INCI Mangifera indica) - Mango butter is expeller pressed & rendered from the mango seed kernel, which has been sustainably wildharvested. This super emollient butter has exceptional healing properties in treating rashes, dry, itchy skin, eczema, dermatitis, sun & wind burn, insect bites, poison ivy & oak as well as reducing scars, stretch marks & fine lines and offers some natural UV protection. Mango butter is a great non-nut alternative to shea and cocoa which can irritate those with nut sensitivities or allergies.
Palm Kernel Oil (INCI Elaeis guineensis) - Palm oil is the largest natural source of tocotrienol, a natural form of vitamin E. Palm oil is also high in vitamin K and magnesium.
Perilla seed oil (INCI Perilla frutescens) - Perilla oil is cold pressed from the seeds of the perilla plant, an annual herb in the mint family. This oil posseses anti-inflammatory properties and is very high in omega-3 fatty acid and alpha-linolenic acid making it yet another beneficial oil for the treatment of eczema and psoriasis. This oil, has NOT been refined and still posseses its natural nutrient content.
Phthalates, a common ingredient in some perfumes and fragrances, are known as "endocrine disruptors" because they mimic the body's hormones and have, in laboratory animal tests, been shown to cause reproductive and neurological damage. It is for this reason that we insist on using phthalate-free fragrance oils exclusively.
Polysorbate 20/80 - This is a gentle emulsifyer derived from lauryl tree and coconut oil that we add to our oil cleansers, allowing you to rinse them clean away with just water.
Pomace Olive Oil (INCI Olea europa) - Pomace Olive Oil is highly nutritive and stable and comes from the pressing of the fruit and pits of the olive. It contains protein, minerals, and vitamins and has superior penetrating power, and acidic and antioxidant values. Pomace Olive Oil is high in unsaponifiables , which is a large group of compounds called steroids or sterolins. They soften the skin and have superior moisturizing affects on the upper layer of the skin. Olive Oil has also long been used to reduce the appearance of scars.
Rice Bran Oil (INCI Oryza Sativa) - Rice bran oil is a quick absorbing oil high in fatty acids as well as tocopherol and tocotrienol, two natural forms vitamin E. Rice bran oil is also said to diminish the effects of aging and slow the formation of wrinkles. This oil is suitable for most skin types as well as those with dry, delicate or sensitive skin. It is also great in baby products.
Sunflower Seed Oil (INCI Helianthus Annuus) - Sunflower seed oil is another oil high in essential fatty acids. It is highly moisturizing for both hair and skin helping to moisturize, regenerate and condition. Our sunflower oil is organic and very high in Vitamins A, B, D and E and suitable for all skin types.
